Triathlon

When the bus pulled into Ashburton pool, Alexia was feeling very nervous. The year nines sat on the benches while Mr Parsons talked to them about the what they were about to do. After, they walked back to the pool to swim the first part of the triathlon.

Two groups were swimming before the dark blue group, so Alexia was waiting beside the pool. When it was their turn they left their clothes beside the pool and then went in, ready to swim. She had to swim 250m which was 10 laps. Alexia thought that swimming would be one of the easiest parts for her. She finished her swim, feeling relieved that there was only the ride and run left. It took her a while to sort out her clothes and shoes but the she was running to the bike track.

At the bike track Alexia quickly took out her bike and started the next part of the triathlon. She felt that this would be slightly difficult as she was not a very good rider. Alexia started her ride and tried to keep track of how many laps she had done but ended up loosing count. The grass track was hard to ride on and one part of the track was on a slight hill which slowed Alexia down. Alexia rode the last couple of laps as hard as she could despite feeling very tired. After the bike ride, she felt that she might not be able to run 2.4km afterwards.

Alexia took her drink bottle and set off running. She was dreading the running part as she knew it would be the most difficult part because she had to run such a long distance. She ran all the way past the top of the street ad to the bus stop before she needed to catch her breath. Alexia was feeling very tired and the thought of two laps of the street was hard to face but she kept running anyway. She tried to run the whole way but couldn't. Alexia walked past Ashburton pool on her last lap and ran the rest of the way down the street and around the corner. She ran around the oval and decided to sprint the rest of the way because the finish line was so near. Alexia found the run the most difficult part but she completed it.

  4. Good Alexia - try and get more into Alexia's head though - what were you actually thinking when you were swimming? Your word choice and description is good.
